Can your sweet tooth handle it??
We are participating in the 4th annual National Cupcake Day on Saturday, February 27, 2016 and you’re invited to take part! (Our wonderful staff are donating their time and baking skills for this annual fundraising event!)
Wait… You’ve never heard of National Cupcake Day?? You’re missing out! This fabulous event raises public awareness and funds to help animals taken into shelters that have been abused, abandoned, neglected or no longer wanted.
How do we raise funds, you ask? By selling scrumptious cupcakes, of course!! Each and every dollar raised on National Cupcake Day helps make a huge difference to pets in need:
$10 – Provides an enrichment toy for a cat, which assists in their behavioural development.
$30 – Provides bales of hay to feed farm animals in the care of the shelter.
$50 – Subsidizes emergency boarding costs for animals of victims of domestic violence.
$60 – Provides warm bedding, heat pads and lamps to help keep young puppies warm.
$100 – Subsidizes medical treatment for sick and injured dogs and cats.
$200 – Keeps an OSPCA investigator on the roads, fighting animal cruelty.
In 2015, the Kawartha Pupcakes (that’s us!) baked our cupcake-tops off and raised over $800 for the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes. We had some terrific flavours (chai, coconut, salted caramel, peanut butter and chocolate… Come on, you know you’re drooling at the thought!) and we plan to completely outdo ourselves yet again this year!
So, how can you help?
Come on in to Kawartha Animal Hospital on Saturday, February 27th from 8:30am – 4pm with your donations and your sweet tooth! This is a fabulous event that is a win-win for all involved; you get delicious cupcakes and animals that are in the shelter get the care they urgently need!
