As some of you may remember, Deb started working as a receptionist at the Kawartha Animal Hospital way back in 2003 shortly after it was purchased from Dr. Brian O’Neill. Deb soon became an integral person to Dr. Rick and the hospital due to her organizational skills and the fact that she knew or knew of “everyone” that walked through the front door. She quickly became mission control in the front office and over the years assumed some managerial duties as well.
Deb loves people and perhaps their pets even more. She has one of the biggest hearts when it comes to animals. She has been a foster parent for the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes for many years and regularly takes in pregnant cats and nurses the moms and the litter to good health so that they can be adopted out. She herself has adopted several dogs and cats from the HSKL over the years. Currently she and her husband Randy have 4 dogs and 4 cats.
We were very fortunate to have had such a loyal employee for 15 years and Deb’s retirement will leave a large hole in our hospital team which we are trying hard to fill but it will be very difficult … so difficult that she has agreed to help us out every 4th Saturday for the next year.
